number 15 southwold

This holiday cottage in Southwold, Suffolk, was in good condition structurally, but the decor was very old fashioned and needed a spruce up before opening to guests under new owners. A brand new kitchen was installed, having been redesigned to make the optimum use of a reasonably compact area and wall units were replaced with re-claimed shelving to open up the space and maximise light. We built banquet seating in the dining area around a vintage table (a family heirloom), coupled with more modern chairs and a fabulous pendant light suspended on a rope above to give a nautical wow factor. Panelling was added in the living room and bedrooms to give the rooms a little more character and the house was re-decorated in a mainly neutral palette throughout using paints from local Norfolk manufacturer Fenwick & Tilbrook. We added pops of colour here and there and some quirky artwork from local and independent artists to give the property a more individual and welcoming feel than your standard holiday rental. The overall result is home-from-home... a comfortable and stylish holiday pad in which to relax and unwind after a busy day at the local beach!
